Computer Is Not Turning On
A computer that suddenly shuts off or has difficulty starting up could have a failing power supply. Check that the computer is plugged into the powerpoint properly and, if that doesn’t work, test the power point with another working device to confirm whether or not there is adequate power.
Computer Is Not Starting Up (Booting Up)
If your computer isn't turning on at all—no fans are running, no lights are blinking, and nothing appears on screen—you probably have a power issue. Unplug your computer and plug it directly into a wall outlet you know is working, rather than a power strip or battery backup that may be failing. Make sure the power switch on the back of your power supply is flipped on, and if the outlet is connected to a light switch, make sure that switch is turned on too.
Computer Is Running Slowly or Freezing
If your computer is slower than normal, you can often fix the problem simply by cleaning the hard disk of unwanted files. You can also install a firewall, anti-virus and anti-spyware tools, and schedule regular registry scans. External hard drives are great storage solutions for overtaxed CPU’s, and will help your computer run faster.
Computer Virus, Malware, and Spyware Removal
Removing a computer virus or spyware can be difficult without the help of malicious software removal tools. Some computer viruses and other unwanted software reinstall themselves after the viruses and spyware are detected and removed. Fortunately, by updating the computer and by using malicious software removal tools, you can help permanently remove unwanted software.
Computer Is Making Noises
A lot of noise coming from your computer is generally a sign of either hardware malfunction or a noisy fan. Hard drives often make noise just before they fail, so you may want to back up information just in case, and fans are very easy to replace.
Computer Is Overheating
If a computer case lacks a sufficient cooling system, then the computer’s components may start to generate excess heat during operation. To avoid your computer burning itself out, turn it off and let it rest if it’s getting hot. Additionally, Logica Nova Ltd can check the fan to make sure it’s working properly.
Computer Is Running Out of Space
So what happens when your computer runs out of RAM? The easy answer to that question: Your computer will start to work less efficiently. That's because when your computer runs out of memory it will start to use the hard drive space for "virtual memory" to compensate.
Computer Accidental Damage Repairs
Computer accidental damage insurance covers things like cracked screens, dropping your laptop or liquid damage caused by spills. Basic PC warranties are just that: Basic. They cover faults in the electronics, typically over a one-year period. Anything outside the realm of a malfunction can be deemed as "accidental damage".
Liquid Spillage Repairs
Having an encounter with such damage may shake your nerves as spillage of liquid on the computer causes severe damage to the internal build. Here, giving up on your device is not the solution. It is the time when you need an expert in computer water damage repair. The consequences of damage caused to the computer by water vary from malfunction in hardware to loss of power in the device. You can easily get these problems solved quickly by undertaking our best computer repair services.
Computer Monitor Is Not Switching On (Turning On)
It may seem obvious, but first, make sure the monitor is turned on. If you don't see a power LED (blue, green, or orange light) on the monitor's front or bottom, press the power button again. If no light comes on after several attempts, proceed to our computer repair services.
Computer Windows Installation and Upgrade
Before you install Windows, you need to carefully examine the location where you’ll be installing this operating system. What drive is in the system now? Is the drive empty or does it have data already on it? You need to understand exactly what’s on the storage drive, because there is a potential you could be overwriting everything on that drive during the installation process.
Microsoft Office Windows Installation and Upgrade
As an admin, you control what version of Office people in your organization can install. We highly recommend that you help users in your organization running older versions of Office such as Office 2010, Office 2013, or Office 2016 upgrade to the latest version to take advantage of its security and productivity improvements.
Internet Security (Anti-Virus, Firewall, VPN)
There are many benefits to using a VPN, firewall and antivirus software together on your company computers, as their capabilities complement one another. It's best to have a properly configured firewall with an intuitive interface that allows you to choose which websites to block or allow on your internal network. Add a strong antivirus program that can identify and remove all malware from your computer, and then get a reliable VPN that allows you to access remote servers with no fear of being monitored. Technology solutions can't do the job alone, though. Your whole team needs to be knowledgeable and vigilant about cybersecurity, especially when they work remotely.
Computer Software and Installation
The problem that people have with their existing systems is that their computer systems can be unstable when installing new software or an upgrade. This could be that the software has a tendency to cause a system crash, or that it is no longer supported by the manufacturer which means you will no longer receive user support or updates for it. Software troubleshooting is the process of scanning, identifying, diagnosing and resolving problems, errors and bugs in software. It is a systematic process that aims to filter out and resolve problems, and restore the software to normal operation.
Computer Solid State Drive (SDD) Installation and Update
An SSD provides many benefits when compared to a standard hard drive, and the installation process is relatively simple on desktop PCs. If your PC has become slow and frustrating to use, don't underestimate the impact installing an SSD might have. Compared with a standard hard disk drive (HDD), Windows feels more responsive, applications load faster and it boots up/shuts down quicker. If you follow the steps in this tutorial carefully, the process of installing one in your PC or laptop isn't too difficult. SSDs have benefits for desktop computers as well as for laptops. Since they’ve fallen in price considerably in recent years, an SSD is a great upgrade for your PC. We’ll show you how to install an SSD in a typical desktop computer, with your old hard disk as a second drive.
Computer Memory (RAM) Upgrade
Computer memory or random access memory (RAM) is your system’s short-term data storage; it stores the information your computer is actively using so that it can be accessed quickly. The more programs your system is running, the more memory you’ll need. RAM allows your computer to perform many of its everyday tasks, such as loading applications, browsing the internet, editing a spreadsheet, or experiencing the latest game. Memory also allows you to switch quickly among these tasks, remembering where you are in one task when you switch to another task. As a rule, the more memory you have, the better. When you turn on your computer and open a spreadsheet to edit it, but first check your email, you’ll have used memory in several different ways. Memory is used to load and run applications, such as your spreadsheet program, respond to commands, such as any edits you made in the spreadsheet, or toggle between multiple programs, such as when you left the spreadsheet to check email. Memory is almost always being actively used by your computer.
Computer Data Backup, Transfer, and Recovery
Backup and recovery describes the process of creating and storing copies of data that can be used to protect organizations against data loss. This is sometimes referred to as operational recovery. Recovery from a backup typically involves restoring the data to the original location, or to an alternate location where it can be used in place of the lost or damaged data. A proper backup copy is stored in a separate system or medium, such as tape, from the primary data to protect against the possibility of data loss due to primary hardware or software failure.
Wifi and Internet Connection Problems
A lot of different things could be the culprit. Sometimes the solution is simple—maybe your router is out of date or just needs a quick reboot. But sometimes it’s a little more complicated. So, we’ve put together a guide to help you troubleshoot your network and get your Wi-Fi flowing like gravy once more.
Faulty Hard Drive (HDD) Recovery
Hard drives, just like all electronic and mechanical devices, can die for many reasons. Unless you are a hardware engineer or a tech-obsessed geek, you probably mostly care about how to get your precious files back, instead of figuring out the exact cause of your hard drive’s demise.
Faulty Power Supply Unit (PSU) Replacement
Hard drive recovery is the process of recovering data and restoring a hard drive to its last known good configuration, after a system/hard drive crashes or is corrupted/damaged. It enables a hard drive to recover from a temporary failure and restore it to normal working condition along with data that was deleted, lost or inaccessible.
Faulty Motherboard Repairs
If you've just replaced your motherboard and failures occur, or if you've had your computer for a while and it suddenly misbehaves, you might automatically assume that the board is bad. Some of the symptoms to look for when diagnosing a bad motherboard are failure to boot. The computer may start to boot but then shuts down. Increased Windows errors or "blue screens of death" are symptoms of failing motherboards. The computer may freeze for seemingly no reason, or connected devices that worked before suddenly won’t work.
Graphic Cards (GPU) Upgrades and Repairs
Many computer motherboards come with on-board graphics which is fine if you only use your PC for browsing the web, e-mailing, or word processing. If you intend to play the latest games, video editing, or just want to increase the performance of your computer then you will want a Graphics Card. A Graphics Card plugs into an expansion slot on the motherboard. On an older motherboard it may have an old AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port), and a newer motherboard will have a PCIe x16 (Peripheral Component Interface Express) slot. Installing a graphics card can significantly improve a computer's performance. The graphics card should be an upgrade over the computer's current card for a performance increase. A better graphics card significantly improves a computer's gaming ability. The card can also improve the computing experience by playing video better and freeing up memory. All computers have a graphics card either built into the motherboard or preinstalled, but it may be possible to install a new card.
Faulty Computer Peripherals (Monitors, Keyboards, Mouse, Etc.)
Faulty computer peripherals examples are problems with a port, problems with the port connectors, USB standards don’t match, error with wireless keyboard or mouse, PS/2 keyboard and mouse not working, and blocked keys or sensors.
Faulty Optical Drive (CD/DVD)
First symptom of a faulty optical drive is that you get read errors on a data CD or DVD or degraded sound or video from an audio CD or DVD-Video disc. If this happens, it is often because the disc itself is dirty or scratched, so clean the disc or try a different disc. Luckily for you, there is actually very little that can go wrong with a CD or DVD drive. In fact, there are just two things that could be wrong. The first is highly unlikely. This is that you either have a faulty drive or you have a faulty disc. A fault of this nature probably accounts for just 1 in 1000 problems with the disc drive. If you have not noticed anything ‘bad’ with the drive in the past then it is unlikely that this is the reason. The most common problem is down to faulty drivers.
Computer Disposal and Secure Data Deletion
Computer recycling, electronic recycling or e-waste recycling is the disassembly and separation of components and raw materials of waste electronics. Although the procedures of re-use, donation and repair are not strictly recycling, these are other common sustainable ways to dispose of IT waste. Secure data disposal includes securely disposing of data from your device, but not getting rid of it entirely. When you dispose of data (i.e. putting it in the trash or simply deleting files off of your computer), the data can still be accessed by malicious individuals.
New Computer Installation and Configuration
Installation or setup is the act of making the system or program ready for execution. Because the process varies for each program and each computer, programs (including operating systems) often come with an installer, a specialized program responsible for doing whatever is needed for their installation. Configuration is an arrangement of functional units according to their nature, number, and chief characteristics. Often, configuration pertains to the choice of hardware, software, firmware, settings, and documentation. The configuration affects system function and performance.
General Computer Maintenance and Diagnostic
Computer maintenance means keeping your computers in good condition through regular cleanings, hard drive updates, and virus prevention. Doing so can lengthen the lifespan of your devices and it can also help you browse the web more safely. Diagnostics is a method of testing a computer hardware device or software program to ensure it is working as it should be. This testing is performed before a computer or computer-related product is released to the public.
Computer Applications Won't Install
It can be frustrating if you’ve downloaded a new application, but your computer refuses to install it. Sometimes, the application will begin installing but will take a long time to load. Other times, it will not start the process at all. If your computer is not responding, it may be worth restarting it to see if it has simply frozen and needed a reset. However, the most common reason for this computer issue is the lack of storage space. To resolve this issue, begin by sorting through your files, deleting any that you no longer need. An easy way to start is by looking through your downloads folder as this can contain some large files. Also, prioritise deleting photo and video files as these typically take up a lot of space. Lastly, there may be applications that open automatically when the device starts. Usually, these applications may be running in the background which may delay your installation time significantly, while increasing your memory usage (RAM).
Computer Sound is Not Working
Such audio issues can be caused due to misconfigured audio settings, faulty external speakers, or outdated or corrupted device drivers. You need to check the volume controls, levels & settings, audio enhancement settings, and then follow the troubleshooting steps to fix the issue and update audio drivers.
Mouse or Keyboard is Not Connecting to Computer
If you are using a wired mouse or keyboard, make sure it is plugged into the computer and into the external device. If you are using a wireless version, be certain that Bluetooth functions and the device has a working, charged battery.
Dysfunction Computer USB Port
Universal Serial Bus ports, or USB ports, allow for widespread external device compatibility across multiple computers. In short, USB ports let any computer use a plethora of devices. However, with so many devices using USB ports, a malfunctioning USB port can spell doom for your computer. When a USB port malfunctions, you may find yourself without your USB webcam, extra hard drive, printer or other crucial device. Luckily, you can fix a malfunctioning computer USB port in only a few minutes.
Computer Is Beeping
In very normal conditions, you hear a beep or few beeps when booting the system. If you hear a single short beep, that means the system is in perfect working condition. Your system is booting up. But a series of beeps and it means that the computer is having internal errors. If it is more than one beep, then it points to a different set of problems.
Computer Fans are not Working
If you notice one or more fans in your PC aren’t working, then it could be due to the dirt inside. You will have to open up the PC and use a compressed air can or a leaf blower to clean up the fans and other components.
Computer has Blue Screen of Death
The dreaded Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) can occur due to both software and hardware problems, but usually, it’s a hardware problem. Whatever the cause, BSOD requires immediate attention as it’s a sign of a big problem. BlueScreenView is a great Nirsoft utility that will show important information if you have recently suffered a Blue Screen of Death. You should be able to identify and solve the problem using this information.
Computer Keyboard Issues
If your keyboard is making noise and won’t type repeated words properly, then there is no problem with the keyboard. You must have enabled toggle keys and filter keys in Windows settings that cause such a problem.
Computer Screen Display is Truncated or has Low Resolution
If you restart your computer and see that the resolution has changed or desktop icons and texts are truncated, it’s usually related to your graphics card. Many times, you simply need to update your graphics drivers. If you know the brand or model of your card, you can go to the manufacturer’s website and download the latest software for the device. If taking this step still doesn’t fix the issue, there could be larger issues with your hardware. In rare cases, you may need to replace the graphics card altogether to solve the issue. However, in most cases, the issue is software-related.
