Laptop won't start
A laptop that suddenly shuts off or has difficulty starting up could have a failing power supply. Check that the laptop is plugged into the power point properly and, if that doesn't work, test the power point with another working device to confirm whether or not there is adequate power.
Laptop screen is blank
What to do if your laptop is on but the screen is blank? One of the main causes for this issue is a corrupt system file preventing the operating system from loading, resulting in the black or blank screen. Restart Windows to see if it's a temporary issue and resolves itself with a reboot. If the problem persists, erase your hard drive and reinstall Windows
Laptop battery is dead and not charging
A laptop battery may cause problems with a laptop booting and displaying anything on the screen. Even if you can charge it to full capacity, the battery may have a defect causing it to interfere with the laptop start up process.
Laptop is very slow or freezing
A laptop that freezes both in normal mode and Safe Mode, or with another operating system, can often indicate a problem with your laptop's hardware. It could be your hard drive, an overheating CPU, bad memory or a failing power supply. In some cases, it might also be your motherboard, although that's a rare occurrence. Usually with hardware problem, the freezing will start out sporadic, but increase in frequency as time goes on. Or it will trigger when the laptop is working hard, but not when you're doing more basic things. Fortunately, you can run some checks and see if that's the case.
Windows is not loading on the laptop
If computer does not boot into Windows, turn on the power and press f8. On the Windows Advanced Boot Option screen, select one or more of the following options. Select them one at a time and press the enter key to attempt a system restart. Repair Your Computer allows Windows to run diagnostic tests.
Laptop Fan is making noises
Dust is the most common cause of laptop noises. Dust damages your system in various ways including obstructing your laptops fan, which causes it to make loud noises. Your laptop's processor is essentially its brain; hence, we advise that you clean the processor's cooler from time to time.
Laptop is overheating
Overheating can be caused by lack of inadequate ventilation under the laptop. This can be solved by elevating your computer and putting a small book under the machine. Apart from using a book, it's even better to purchase a laptop cooling pad to provide enough standard ventilation under your machine.
Laptop needs memory upgrade
When you first notice that your computer is running slowly, stalling, or crashing: “Do I need to add computer memory?” should be the first question to ask. However, it’s only when it becomes a recurring problem that people investigate if they have a deeper computer issue with their hardware. Usually it’s just about finding a quick fix or restarting the computer so you can finish sending an email or surf the web. Then the problem is forgotten until the next time you use the computer. If you’re constantly seeing spinning hourglass icons or a frozen screen, it’s likely time to add computer memory.
Laptop needs Solid State Drive (SSD) Upgrade
SSDs offer shorter boot times for your computer, more immediate data transfer and higher bandwidth. Faster speeds mean SSDs can handle data at the ultra-high speeds necessary in today's business world, especially when running programs that access large amounts of data such as an operating system.
Laptop was accidentally damaged
Accidental Damage is any damage due to an unintentional act that is not the direct result of a manufacturing defect or failure. Accidental damage is not covered under the standard warranty of the product. Such damage is often the result of a drop or an impact to the LCD screen or any other part of the product which may render the device nonfunctional. Such types of damage are only covered under an Accidental Damage service offering which is an optional addon to the basic warranty of the product. Accidental Damage must not be confused with an occasional dead or stuck pixel on the LCD panel.
Liquid was spilled over my laptop
If the Laptop Won't Work, Call the Experts. Sometimes, water damage is severe enough that, no matter what you do, your computer won't turn back on. In this case, it's important to call your local computer repair shop for data recovery and computer repair in Barnet.
Keyboard won't work on my Laptop
There’s also a chance the keyboard has been damaged or disconnected from the motherboard. In these two cases, you’ll have to open up the laptop and connect the keyboard or replace it if it’s faulty. If the laptop is still under warranty, just send it in to get it repaired. If it isn’t, we strongly advise you to pay a professional to fix the problem instead of doing it yourself, unless you really know what you’re doing.
Touchpad stopped working on my Laptop
In that case, you likely have a hardware issue. Perhaps a cable is damaged or the touchpad has worn out. In those instances, you should take your computer to a repair shop and get a professional opinion—or just start using an external mouse.
My laptop won't connect to WiFi router
When your laptop won't connect to WiFi, it limits the methods you can use to access the internet. Although it is a very convenient way of getting online, there are several things that can go wrong when using WiFi. These issues make your connection slow, periodically disrupted, or sometimes the computer just flat out won't connect.
My laptop has viruses, malware, ransomware
If you think that malware has taken up residence in your PC, install a powerful antivirus application or security suite immediately. Already got one? Then apparently the malware got past its protection. Make sure your antivirus is fully up to date, and run a full scan. If you still have an unwanted app your regular security software can't get rid of (or you just want to be doubly sure your system is clean) you can scan your PC again with an on-demand cleanup tool, such as Malwarebytes. Do whatever it takes to get that nasty, malicious program out of your system as soon as possible, before it invites friends to make your security problems even worse.
My laptop has crashed and not booting up
What is the problem if laptop is not turning on? If your laptop won't power up, a faulty power supply, failed hardware, or a malfunctioning screen could be to blame. In many cases, you may be able to resolve the problem yourself by ordering replacement parts or adjusting your laptop's configuration.
Upgrade Windows on my laptop
Updates can sometimes include optimizations to make your Windows operating system and other Microsoft software run faster. Without these updates, you're missing out on any potential performance improvements for your software, as well as any completely new features that Microsoft introduces.
Install or upgrade Microsoft Office suite
Why do I need to update Microsoft Office? Software updates are essential in keeping your applications up to date with the latest features, performance improvements, and security patches. Microsoft regularly provides updates for its Office suite.
